From the President's Desk...
Congratulations to Bill and Anne Anderson on being named the 2021 Woodlands Stud Victorian Breeder of the Year at the recent HRV Horse of the Year Awards. They had a wonderful year and thoroughly deserve this recognition. They set a standard that we all strive for, and it is lovely to see the joy they get from each of their wins.
The breeding season is not far away and our team led by Desiree Petitt-Keating and Sally McPherson are working hard on the Stallion Guide which will be completed shortly and then be off to the printers. We thank all of the studs and stallion owners who have advertised with us again this year as well as the companies that support the breeding industry in Victoria and across Australia by advertising their wares in the Guide.
Stallion movements are gradually being announced with more to come over the coming weeks. We look like having a stellar selection of stallions to choose from in both gaits with a number of new stallions standing in Victoria. I wish you all the best with your choices for the coming season.

Could you perform foal CPR?
While HBV recommends using a dedicated agistment facility, if you plan on foaling down at home, now is the time to review your skills and understanding of the process and importantly, how and when to intervene. We've put together a range of articles, videos and other resources to support breeders HERE.

Vicbred Wednesday Winner
If April was broodmare La Machane’s month then surely May was owned by Presidential Ball mare and 2016 Victorian Pacing Broodmare of the Year, Celebrity Ball! Fittingly, our May Wednesday Winner is her son, Major Celebrity. You can read about the family in of our monthly series HERE or on The Barn, HRV's home of breeding news.
