Another dominant Anderson season

Thanks to Woodlands Stud, our 2022 season Victorian Breeder of the Year was announced at Harness Racing Victoria’s gala event at Crown Casino, from three nominees - Pat Driscoll of Yabby Dam Farms, Bruce & Vicki Edward of Durham Park and our ultimate winners, Anne & Bill Anderson of Lauriston Bloodstock.

The award was decided by a committee vote, taking into consideration the performances of all Vicbred-eligible stock across Australia for the season. Bill and Anne, breeding as Lauriston Bloodstock, bred 34 Vicbred-eligible horses to start in 2022, which recorded 75 wins for a collective $1.89m in stakes - a remarkable average per starter of $55,000. Some of the top horses in that group included Ladies In Red and Honolua Bay, both awarded Victorian Horse of the Year in their respective categories, Just Hope, Ripp, School Captain, Somethin Bout Eily & First Responder.

For 2022, HBV opted to streamline the awards program to avoid duplication and confusion, but also recognise the best of the best. This was done by coupling our championship awards to HRV’s Victorian Horse of the Year awards.

We would consequently like to congratulate 2022 member breeders of the following Vicbred-eligible horses who won their respective Victorian Horse of the Year categories. Each breeder will receive a HBV trophy to acknowledge the achievement. Our thanks as always to our sponsors for their support of our program to recognise and celebrate the achievement of our breeders. For the full list of al Award winners for 2022, click HERE.
