2020 Victorian Trotting Broodmare of the Year

It is always a pleasure to recongise the amazing job done by broodmares in the Victoria - after all, they’re the start of every breeding and racing journey! We were very sad to learn of the passing, just before our IRT Victorian Breeder Awards announcements commenced, of Ken Wills, studmaster at Niota Bloodstock. Niota have long been very active supporters of HBV but also of breeders more generally and his loss will be felt my many.

This year there were a record number of nominees - no surprise given almost all of the nominees for the inaugural HRA Maori Miss award were Victorian - but our 2020 Niota Bloodstock Victorian Trotting Broodmare of the Year is awarded to:

Yabby Dam Farms have unearthed another star bloodline with New Zealand-bred Monarchy mare Im Ready Set being represented in two starters across the 2019-20 season – the outstanding 2020 Goodtime Lodge Victorian 3YO Trotting Filly of the Year, Im Ready Jet (TR1:55.6, $112,000), and Imsettotgo (TR1:59.5, $60,450). These two fillies had 34 starts across the year for 15 wins and total earnings of $173,000.
