Committee Notes
The 2024 Vicbred finals have now been run and won - we extend congratulations to the connections and especially breeders of those twelve winners. Without mentioning them all, the story behind the two-year-old trotting filly is a rather special one. Keayang Kurki is her name, bred by Michael and Neville Pangrazio at Rochester but being small, couldn’t attract a bid at the yearling sales. However Antti Ruokonen, a young horseman from Finland, saw something in her he liked and bought her after the sales together with the Lee family. She might be small in stature but she was big on speed and courage to win her Group 1 Final.
The 2024 IRT Australasian Standardbred Stallion Guide is now in your hands - we encourage all breeders in Victoria to use it in your decision making for breeding your broodmare this season, to ensure we have a healthy foal crop to race in the 2028 season.

A milestone for a special lady
From Alabar this month, a happy 30th birthday for one of the greatest mares ever - Tailamade Lombo. A remarkable lady who won $1,354,978 on racetrack, Tailamade Lombo also excelled as a broodmare producing ten winners, including five $100,000+ earners. These days she is a nanny looking after the next generation of stars.

The Long Trot team are focusing on prostate cancer awareness for the month, while Harnessing Hope will be running on October 6 for Pancare Australia who are involved in Alifetimeforlilving, the filly whose yearling sale profit went to the charity - read about her journey HERE.
