President's Notes

On 11th March, HBV wrote to both the CEO and Chairman of HRV providing the background to the HRA stallion levy, its negative impact on breeding, and asking HRV display leadership to the breeding industry throughout Australia by declaring their opposition to the levy, and especially for its use in helping to fund the Eureka race. Some three months later, HBV have not received a reply to this correspondence, which is both very disappointing. HBV has recently received notice from HRV that changes to the policies around the microchipping of foals are being considered, which will likely result in extra costs to breeders. This will be an ongoing advocacy issue for HBV.

The Stallion Guide is now well into production, with many studs still finalising their 2025 sire rosters - we can't wait to bring you both digital and hard copies of the annual Guide from next month. To get a copy in the post, make sure your membership is up to date.
